Here's a fun blast from my past. This is a girl I lived with a few months after I got out of prison. When I broke up with her, she called the cops and my parole officer claiming I'd beaten her.
Good thing that Oregon law allows you to record someone without their knowledge. I turned on the tape player and got her to admit I'd never laid a hand on her and that she was only angry that I'd left her. I played these tapes for my parole officer, who apologized and left me alone for the rest of my parole.
I could have done a long, long additional bid in prison if it wasn't for these recordings.
Sound is shitty throughout, but you'll be able to find the crucial passages. I made sure she repeated the fact that she lied several times.
We live in a society that denies this shit happens all the time. I was talking to a guy today who says he knows a guy who had cameras set up in his house because his girlfriend was threatening to lie to the cops that he'd beaten her. He got her on film hitting herself, which exonerated him when the cops were called.http://www.jimgoad.net/sound/marissa1.m4ahttp://www.jimgoad.net/sound/marissa2.m4ahttp://www.jimgoad.net/sound/marissa3.m4a
