Still collecting my thoughts about this.

I'd corresponded with him all the way back to ANSWER Me! #1 and only started talking with him on the phone after his initial brain-tumor diagnosis a few years back. We talked a lot. He had a relapse last summer and they placed him in some hospice where it was absolutely impossible to ever get him on the phone. The last time I talked to him was probably around August. One of the saddest conversations I'd ever had.

There goes another good egg.

Attended a gun show in Gainesville, GA today. Will be writing about guns for Monday's article. Here are unretouched photos I took during the festivities. If you'd like to see a few of these photos after cropping and snazzing-up, go to my Instagram page.

Coolest Canadian ever:

Compare Stompin' Tom with the modern idea of what a "man" is:

Why'd you have to unsettle me by mentioning that?

Here's a fun blast from my past. This is a girl I lived with a few months after I got out of prison. When I broke up with her, she called the cops and my parole officer claiming I'd beaten her.

Good thing that Oregon law allows you to record someone without their knowledge. I turned on the tape player and got her to admit I'd never laid a hand on her and that she was only angry that I'd left her. I played these tapes for my parole officer, who apologized and left me alone for the rest of my parole.

I could have done a long, long additional bid in prison if it wasn't for these recordings.

Sound is shitty throughout, but you'll be able to find the crucial passages. I made sure she repeated the fact that she lied several times.

We live in a society that denies this shit happens all the time. I was talking to a guy today who says he knows a guy who had cameras set up in his house because his girlfriend was threatening to lie to the cops that he'd beaten her. He got her on film hitting herself, which exonerated him when the cops were called.
